YouFibre backs young racing underdog Thomas Potter for 2026 season

23/09/2026

Some people are born to race. Thomas Potter, 14, from the North East, is one of them.

Known in motorsport circles as TPot, Thomas has been chasing his dream since he first climbed into a 50cc Bambino kart at six years old. He took to it immediately, in the rain, controlling skids like he'd been doing it for years. Six championship titles later, including the fastest lap record at his home circuit. Along the way he consistently outpaced drivers from big teams with private mechanics and budgets he could only dream of. He did it on a shoestring, with his family in his corner.

Now he's stepped up to circuit racing, competing in the 2026 BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship, one of the UK's most respected junior single-make series. Drivers who come through it go on to great things. Thomas intends to be one of them.

We spent a day with Thomas Potter, see what we got up to here:

Making his mark

Thomas hit the ground running at the opening round at Snetterton, winning the Rookie class in the final race of the weekend. A competitive field, a strong debut, and a clear sign that the step up from karts to cars hadn't fazed him one bit. Round two brought the biggest stage yet: the Silverstone GP circuit. For a 14-year-old in only his second circuit racing weekend, lining up on that grid matters. And when the rain came down in Race 8, Thomas did what he's always done in wet conditions: he found pace where others struggled, gained two places and finished seventh in the Rookie class.

YouFibre was proud to title sponsor Thomas at Silverstone. We'll be there for the rest of the season too.

An underdog with serious pace

Thomas has never had it easy. He's raced against drivers with far bigger budgets, at times crowdfunding just to cover tyres and entry fees. And yet he keeps finding a way to be faster. His wet-weather ability has caught the attention of people at the very top of the sport, including F1 World Champion Jenson Button. Raw talent, resilience and a refusal to be outrun. That's what makes him such a compelling character to follow. He doesn't need the biggest team. He just needs the chance. That's a story we know well at YouFibre.

Why YouFibre is backing Thomas again

We're a challenger brand taking on the big names in UK broadband. We don't have their legacy or their decades of infrastructure but we do have better technology, fairer pricing, and the determination to do things differently. Thomas has that same determination, on and off the racetrack. We backed Thomas through his karting career, and we're proud to be back in his corner as he makes his mark in circuit racing. We're cheering on more than just a racing driver this season. We're cheering on everything he stands for.

More than a driver

What sets Thomas apart isn't just his pace. It's his character. Thomas uses his platform to raise awareness of anti-bullying, youth mental health and suicide prevention, causes that are deeply personal to him. He's spoken openly about his own experience of being bullied, and turned that into something that helps others. He champions resilience, advocates for young people who are struggling. What he's building off the track matters every bit as much as what he's achieving on it.

Ryan Battle, Managing Director at YouFibre said:

"Thomas is exactly the kind of person we love to support. He's up against drivers with bigger budgets, bigger teams and bigger backing, and he's still finding a way to be faster. That's the underdog spirit, and at YouFibre, we understand it. We're taking on the biggest names in broadband with better tech and fairer prices. We're really excited to keep supporting and following Thomas’s journey this year."
